The Future Looks Bright!

This past Saturday we had the joy of watching young leaders do their thing! College students who live and work in the area gave of their time to prepare sessions focused on helping high schoolers and rising college freshmen prepare to step on campus with confidence. Throughout the sessions, we heard multiple degree-holding adults and volunteers say something along the lines of, "I wish I'd gotten this advice when I was younger!"

As we're still new and we're still in the process of figuring out the logistics of how our programs can most effectively run, we had high hopes that this practical skills-focused workshop would go smoothly, but we intentionally created margin and space for mishaps. This crew of motivated facilitators, though, showed up and showed off! Their professionalism and preparation made it seem like this was our 20th or 30th workshop, and we couldn't be more grateful!

One key aspect of our mission is to empower people from within our community. We are surrounded by experts and brilliant minds; our hope is for the CCC to become a space that highlights this expertise and brilliance. We hope to give attention to the leaders and changemakers who are doing great things in the 757. We were blown away by the 11 facilitators who created content and led sessions on Saturday. Their wisdom was invaluable. Their enthusiasm was inspiring. Their honesty was refreshing.

Perhaps the best part of the workshop was the panel discussion at the conclusion of the sessions. The panelists offered such authentic responses and it was amazing to hear the questions the participants asked. We wish we could have bottled up the experience and taken it to every high school auditorium in the 757- it truly was that meaningful!

So if we haven't said it enough yet, thank you to our amazing facilitators. Many of you responded to a random email and didn't hesitate to jump at the opportunity to pour into the next wave of college students. This generosity filled us with so much hope. If the future is in your hands, we can all rest a little easier.

And to the students who came and participated, we're so glad you spent a few hours with us. We hope you heard something that might help you moving forward as you make decisions about pursuing a college degree. We also hope you'll come hang with us again soon.

Finally, thanks to Dorms Fairies and Endeavor Advising for showing up and showing support to both our facilitators and our participants. Your partnership was a gift! We're already scheming and brainstorming about next year's event!!!

We feel so fortunate to be hosting these workshops in the 757, but without our community members stepping up to lead these learning opportunities, none of this would be possible! And same goes to the participants- without you, this whole thing would just remain a dream. We have some awesome workshops on the horizon, so if you haven't checked out our offerings recently, head on over to this page, and register for a workshop that interests you.

As a heads up, we've also made some adjustments and our workshops will now all be free and open to the public! Although we welcome donations, they are not required to secure a ticket because we don't want cost to be a barrier to knowledge. We hope we'll see some of you on July 9th for our Safety Summit workshop... we've got some pretty cool things in store for you that evening. We can't wait to learn with you!
